Forstsee power station
Located on one of the most beautiful places on the lake, the Forstsee power station offers more than just insight into electricity generation. It is also a place for relaxation and is the site of cultural events.
The power station is right on the shores of the Wörthersee between Pörtschach and Velden. You can easily reach it by car, by bike via safe bike trails, or by boat. Carinthia's oldest storage power plant was designed by architect Franz Eduard Baumgartner in a villa style. It went into operation in 1925 after 2 years of construction. The storage power plant is still in use today and generates electricity at the touch of a button.
