The 17-kilometre-long and 85-metre-deep turquoise-blue Wörthersee lies in the hills of the Alps-Adriatic border triangle of Austria, Italy and Slovenia. Along its shores are romantic bays with the famous "Wörthersee villas" from the imperial era and picturesque towns: the sophisticated Velden with its casino, Pörtschach with its lakeside promenade, the famous pilgrimage town of Maria Wörth with its wedding church or the provincial capital of Klagenfurt with the beautiful courtyards of the old town and its shopping streets.

If you want to take it easy, take a boat trip on the Wörthersee steamer. Around the lake, you will find the leisurely Wörthersee circular hiking trail in a wonderful natural arena, numerous wonderful hiking and excursion destinations, such as the newly opened Pyramidenkogel - the world's highest wooden observation tower - or enchanted castles and castle ruins, such as Hochosterwitz or Landskron.
If you prefer urban flair and culture or want to go shopping, you can be in the pretty town of Villach or the provincial capital of Klagenfurt in 20 minutes and in Mediterranean cities such as Ljubljana or Udine in no time at all.
