Summer vacation on the Wörthersee
The 17-kilometer long and 85-meter deep turquoise Wörthersee is located in the hills of the Alpe Adria tri-border region of Austria, Italy, and Slovenia. On its shores you will find romantic bays with the well-known "Wörthersee villas" from imperial times and picturesque towns: sophisticated Velden with its casino, Pörtschach with its lake promenade, the famous pilgrimage town of Maria Wörth with its wedding chapel, or the state capital of Klagenfurt with its wonderful courtyards in the historic district and its shopping streets.

If you want to take it easy, you can enjoy a boat ride on the Wörthersee. In the beautiful natural arena around the lake, you will find the easy Wörthersee loop trail, numerous wonderful hiking and excursion destinations such as the newly opened Pyramidenkogel - the world's highest wooden viewing tower - or enchanting palaces and castle ruins such as the Hochosterwitz or Landskron.
If you prefer an urban atmosphere and culture or if you want to go shopping, you can reach the lovely town of Villach or the state capital of Klagenfurt in 20 minutes, and you can reach the Mediterranean metropolises of Ljubljana and Udine in a short amount of time.
