Situated in one of the most beautiful spots on the lake, the Forstsee show power station not only offers an insight into how electricity is generated. It is also a place of recreation and a regular venue for cultural events.
The show power station is located directly on the shores of Lake Wörthersee, between Pörtschach and Velden. You can reach it easily. By car, by bike on safe cycle paths and also by boat. The oldest storage power station in Carinthia was designed by architect Franz Eduard Baumgartner in the villa style. It went into operation in 1925 after two years of construction. The storage power station is still in use today, generating electricity at the push of a button.
